Terms of service
Last updated on October 2026
Introduction
Welcome to PlaySafe ID, a platform provided by Playsafe ID Ltd (company number: 15367326), a UK Limited company with its registered office at Fitzroy House, Crown Street, Ipswich, Suffolk, England, IP1 3LG (“Playsafe”, “we”, “us”, or “our”). These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of our website and identity verification service designed to combat cheating and ensure a safe gaming environment for all players (collectively, the “Service” or “PlaySafe ID”). By using our Service, you agree to be bound by, and comply with, these Terms. If you are a developer or other third-party games or services user (“Business User”) please refer to the commercial agreement between us, or contact us at contact@playsafeid.com to understand which terms apply to you.
Eligibility
The Service is available globally to end users who are:
13 years of age or older and who verify their identity through Onfido (an Entrust company); or
7 to 12 years of age and who are added to a profile on their parent’s or guardian’s verified account (these end users are not permitted to complete the identity verification process themselves). By adding a child profile, you (the parent or guardian) acknowledge that you are responsible for your child’s use of your account and for ensuring that your child complies with these Terms.
Account Registration and Use
To create an account, you must submit a valid email and date of birth, then complete our verification flow, powered by Onfido (via the PlaySafe ID Platform). This verification involves you completing the same bank-grade KYC (know your customer) check as performed by Revolut, major banks and insurers.
Please note that all the images of your identity document and your selfie are deleted shortly after verification completes and neither PlaySafe nor our verification provider (Onfido) retains them. What remains are the following two derived items which cannot ever be turned back into a face or an image:
an encrypted and sealed biometric token used to re-authenticate your account, which PlaySafe stores but only Entrust can decrypt, making it unusable by PlaySafe or anyone else; and
a numerical representation of your face geometry held in our verification partners' systems, used to prevent one person holding more than one PlaySafe ID.
PlaySafe’s systems hold only the encrypted, pseudonymised token and cannot access any biometric information from it. This information can never be turned back into a face or a document. We only use technical signals to apply the applicable data protection laws of your region, as described in our Privacy Policy here. As standard, we apply the strictest applicable data protection standards to every user regardless of region.
Once the privacy-preserving verification process is successfully complete, you may link game accounts to your PlaySafe ID for access to supported games and services.
If you choose, or you are provided with, a username, password or any other piece of information as part of our security procedures, you must treat such information as confidential. You must not disclose it to any third party. If you know or suspect that anyone other than you knows your account details, username or password, you must promptly notify us using the contact details above.
If you do not interact with your PlaySafe ID account for 3 consecutive years (i.e. no protected play, no app or platform sign-in, no re-authentication), it is deleted automatically, including all linked data. We will email you 3 months, 1 month, 1 week and 1 day before deletion so you can keep your account by simply signing in. A user with a deleted account may create a new account simply by re-verifying.
Prohibited Activities
You are prohibited from cheating, hacking, botting, phishing, introducing viruses, promoting or engaging in inappropriate behaviour (sexual activity, grooming, CSAM, CSEA) with minors, conducting illegal activities or soliciting others into conducting illegal activities, unauthorized access, modification of the platform, or reverse engineering of our Services, posting or transmitting any content that infringes on any intellectual property or privacy rights, or attempting to disrupt or interfere with the Service’s security features. Additionally you are not permitted to attempt to verify multiple accounts, sell or trade your account, verify on the behalf of someone else, or share an account with other people. Any abuse of these points, or with game account unlink requests, creating fake or malicious child accounts, or other such nefarious use of our platform will result in the immediate termination of use and permanent ban of the account.
While we try to make sure that the Service is accurate, up-to-date and free from bugs, we do not promise or guarantee that it will be or that the Service will be fit or suitable for any purpose. Although we make reasonable efforts to update the Service, we make no guarantees that the Service is accurate, complete or up-to-date.

Penalties
PlaySafe ID exists so that penalties follow the “person” (the pseudonymised representation of a person), not the account. Penalties for prohibited activities (including cheating, fraud, and conduct harmful to children) attach to your PlaySafe ID and to the game accounts connected to your PlaySafe ID at the time of the penalty.
Penalty records survive deletion requests. If you ask us to erase your personal data, we delete or irreversibly redact your personal data (including your game history, display name, profile settings and preferences), and your account becomes a restricted record containing only: (i) the penalty record and its evidence; (ii) the linked biometric references (the encrypted biometric token and the Known Faces representation) (where retained in your region); (iii) the identifiers of the connected game accounts; (iv) your date of birth (retained to support identity matching and duplicate prevention); and (v) your email address solely for correspondence about the penalty. Please see our Retention Policy here for more information on retention of data.
If you have requested erasure, you can still sign in to your restricted account, but it is locked from all actions and service functions. A person with an active penalty who attempts to verify again will be declined at verification and directed to their existing record and appeal route. A game account linked to an active penalty or recently expired penalty cannot be disconnected from the PlaySafe ID it is linked to, nor can it be connected to another PlaySafe ID while the penalty stands.
A third penalty within any rolling 36-month period upgrades the classification of your conduct.
A penalty on any PlaySafe ID account in a family account applies to all members of the family using the account. Parents and guardians are informed of this before adding a child profile, and family-level appeals apply.
Every penalty notification states the offence category, the retention period, and how to appeal the penalty. Appeals are made to the third party game or community that issued the report/notification of prohibited behaviour; if it overturns the penalty, that penalty ends immediately (for a family account, for all members), and your account returns to good standing once no penalties remain on it. A record of the appeal is retained for a limited period, marked overturned, for audit purposes and in case of legal proceedings. You may issue complaints here: complaints@playsafeid.com.
Termination and Blacklisting
While we do not terminate user accounts, we reserve the right to suspend, ban, lock, or blacklist any PlaySafe ID at any time, including without limitation, if you are involved in any prohibited activities or have violated these Terms or any law or regulation.
Intellectual Property Rights
All content, trademarks, and intellectual property in the Service and the PlaySafe ID are owned by us or our licensors. Unauthorized use of this intellectual property is prohibited. Nothing in these Terms grants you any legal rights in the Service other than as necessary to enable you to access the Service.
Disclaimers and Limitations of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, PlaySafe shall not be liable for any loss or damages or outcomes (including consequential or unforeseeable loss or damage) that you may suffer resulting indirectly or directly from the use of our Service. Users agree to use PlaySafe ID at their own risk. You acknowledge that the Service is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. Playsafe disclaims all warranties, express or implied, including, without limitation, warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
You agree to indemnify us from any and all claims, damages, obligations, losses, liabilities, costs and expenses arising from (a) your use of the Service; (b) your violation of these Terms; or (c) your violation of any third party right.
Governing Law and Jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. This means that your access to and use of the Service, and any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection therewith (including non-contractual disputes or claims) will be governed by English law.
You may bring any dispute which may arise under these Terms to, at your discretion, either the competent court of England, or to the competent court of your country of habitual residence if this country of habitual residence is within the UK, which courts are (with the exclusion of any other court) competent to settle any such dispute.
We will bring any dispute which may arise under these Terms to the competent court of your country of habitual residence if this is within the UK or otherwise the competent court of England.
Modification of Terms
We reserve the right to modify these Terms from time to time (for example, to reflect a change in law, or for other important commercial, legal or business reasons). If we do so, we’ll let you know by giving you reasonable prior notice before such changes take effect. If you do not wish to continue using the Service following any changes, you may cease your use of the Service, but the provisions under clause 5 in respect of penalties will continue to apply. Your continued use of the Service after the date on which the updated Terms take effect will constitute your acceptance of the Terms as amended.
Modification of the Service
We may suspend, withdraw, discontinue or change all or any part of the Service from time to time for any reason. If we do, we’ll endeavour to give you reasonable prior notice but this may not be possible in all cases (for example, if we need to suspend the Service for reasons related to security or a change in law or regulation). No prior notice will be required where any change constitutes an improvement to the Service, such as the addition of new features or a routine update. If you do not wish to continue using the Service following any changes, you may cease your use of the Service, but the provisions under clause 5 in respect of penalties will continue to apply.

Third-Party Services

General
The Terms do not create or imply any rights that are enforceable by any person who is not a party to them.
We may transfer our rights and obligations under these Terms to another company, but this will not affect your rights or our obligations under these Terms. You may only transfer your rights or obligations under these Terms to another person if we agree in writing.
If we decide not to exercise or enforce any right that we have against you at a particular time, then this does not prevent us from later deciding to exercise or enforce that right.
Each of the conditions of these Terms operates separately. If any court or competent authority decides that any of them are unlawful or unenforceable, the remaining conditions will remain in full force and effect.
