The PlaySafe ID is an anonymous and unique ID that is generated when you prove you’re a real person. We work with Veriff who do similar verifications for Roblox, Epic, and other huge names.

By having a PlaySafe ID you will only be matchmade with other players that have a verified PlaySafe ID, and if you are caught cheating, your ID is marked and you’re out.

We believe prevention is better than cure, and the risk of real consequence tied to you as a real person is the best solution to keep people playing within the rules online to keep play fair, fun, and safe.

It takes two minutes to get your PlaySafe ID.

Simply create an account, take a picture of a document and take a selfie.

We then get notified by Veriff if the verification was successful, then we generate your random and anonymous PlaySafe ID.

PlaySafe ID has partnered with Veriff, who are absolute giants in the KYC, identity, and verification industry. They are used by Epic, Roblox, and many other huge names.

You verify your identity on the PlaySafe ID platform, powered by Veriff.

We get told if the verification was successful by Veriff, and if it is, we generate a random and anonymous PlaySafe ID. It is this ID that is used with games and services.

This process is known as “zero knowledge proof”. PlaySafe ID get to know that you’re real and genuine, but we don’t have to see or store any of your personal info. This is all handled by Veriff.

When you connect your PlaySafe ID with a service, you can rest assured that everyone you play or interact with is a real person who cares about following the rules. It instantly becomes very unlikely that you will encounter cheaters, hackers, trolls, or bots.

You will only be able to receive messages from, send messages to, or play with and against other verified PlaySafe IDs. Your experience for the first time will only be with and against real people who care about following the rules and not ruining the experience for others.

If someone is caught using software or hardware to intentionally gain an unfair advantage over other players, then their PlaySafe ID is blacklisted and they wont be able to interact with any other player who has a valid PlaySafe ID.

Practically speaking; the service pings PlaySafe with the ID that was caught, the violation, and any supporting info. We then make a decision on if that ID should be blacklisted. If they are blacklisted, that PlaySafe ID, and ultimately that real persons identity, are out of everything that accepts a PlaySafe ID.

It’s really simple; just don’t cheat or do bad things to children.
We have 2 very simple rules:

1. Don’t use any kind of software or hardware to gain an unfair advantage over other players (cheat, hack, bot, script, etc),

2. Don’t groom children,

We don’t blacklist based on toxicity or behaviour; that’s at the discretion of the game to handle as they see fit. We ultimately just care about cheating and child safety.

You get one life.
If you are caught cheating, your PlaySafe ID is marked forever.
If you are caught grooming children, your PlaySafe ID is marked forever.

The punishment has to be this severe in order to absolutely deter anyone tempted to cheat.

To combat false positives, we have three safeguards:

1. Trust score:
   PlaySafe ID builds a trust score for every user based on connected accounts, age of accounts, number of sessions played, and length of play sessions. We take this trust score into account when making decisions.

2. Evidence:
   Developers have to submit the offence and any supporting evidence. For example, logic-based anti-cheat reports are 100% accurate and the user would be banned. Heuristic-based reports can yield false positives, so we look at the nature of the report, any logs, and the trust score.

3. Appeals:
   PlaySafe ID has an appeals process whereby we review the evidence, status codes against the cheating report, any supporting logs, and the trust score of the account. If we’re not 100% certain that the ID was cheating, the decision can be overturned.

No. This is the whole point of our solution.

Let’s say you verified your ID with a drivers licence, and you were caught cheating. You then decide to make another PlaySafe ID with your passport or some other document.

Veriff has an incredibly system and run a KYC check against every ID that is uploaded. They can see that both IDs relate to the same person, and as a result, you get given the same PlaySafe ID.

It is impossible for you to get another PlaySafe ID. It is tied to you as a real person.

Simple; don’t connect it, and don’t interact with people who have.

In a future with PlaySafe as a widely adopted standard; there is absolutely nothing stopping you from playing games as they are, using social media as it is, or doing anything online. You can 100% continue as you are today.

If you don’t connect your ID however, you don’t get all the benefits of the trust and safe play that comes with only interacting with other people that are PlaySafe verified. But ultimately, you don’t have to connect your PlaySafe Id to something if you don’t want to.

PlaySafe ID is currently free of charge. This will change at some point in the future. The cost will be $2.50 a month for a PlaySafe ID in future.

We will have to charge at some point to be viable as a business, as there is a cost with verifying your identity, and another cost for the technical infrastructure and API calls to make everything work (as well as for our team to develop and maintain PlaySafe ID).

We want to make your access to PlaySafe ID as cheap as possible as we want to make a world where cheating, hacking, spam, bots, fake news, and malicious practices are as few as is humanly possible.

The short version is our CEO Andrew is 30 and grew up alongside the rise of online gaming spending tens of thousands of hours on everything from WoW (started in BC), CoD, LoL (started in the beta when Heimer was released), and dozens of other games.

Over the last few years, he started having a much worse experience with online gaming. Far more cheats, hacks, bots, and bad actors. Also, in 2023, Andrew had a daughter.

The combination of frustration, lack of real solution, and wanting to make the world better for his family drove Andrew to come up with a legtimate solution that could help solve the problems with gaming today, and hopefully one day even many of the issues facing social media and the wider internet.

PlaySafe ID is his bet to try and make gaming, and the world, a better place for everyone.
